A little about our service area…

Fifteen miles to the southwest of the centre of London, Epsom is a hugely desirable area to live. This tranquil spot is nestled into the Surrey countryside, and gives off a lovely charm making it an excellent place to live for those escaping the hustle and bustle of city life.

The name ‘Epsom’ has interesting origins. It is widely accepted that it derives from ‘Ebbi’ being a Saxon woman and ‘ham’ meaning village or small town. These historic roots account for an abundance of wrought stone, of Roman bricks and tiles suggesting that a Roman villa once stood in the village. Epsom also appears in a Charter, dated to A.D. 882 and at one point nearby Ewell was the largest village in Surrey.

The railways came to the borough in the mid nineteenth century and stimulated rapid house building to cater for the new breed of commuter to and from London. The suburbs of Auriol, Stoneleigh and Worcester Park were developed from the 1920s. It has developed today into a countryside retreat only a stone’s throw from London by train.
